Part of the occupants information for 6 & 8 Dutton Lane is not quite correct. Number 6 Dutton Lane was for years owned by George Wright who owned both the Regal and Picture House cinemas. It was usually let to the projectionist as in the case of Mr & Mrs Gambrill. Not long after they moved out,the house was sold and Ian Fairchild and his wife lived there and not at number 8 as recorded. Miss May did not live in number 8 either but in number 6 with her sister. My parents William & Catherine Howsego (and myself) moved into number 8 in July 1955 and my mother sold the house in 1980 after my father died. A Miss Edna May bought it.
